B.A., M.A.

I am currently studying for a DPhil in History at St Peter's College, Oxford. My areas of interest focus on the Late Medieval and Early Modern period. My particular area of research examines Rodrigo Borgia as Vice Chancellor of the Catholic Church, a position he held from 1457-1492, when he was elected Pope Alexander VI. I am using Rodrigo as an example to investigate the role of the Papal Vice Chancellor, a role within the Curia about which we know relatively little. The study will demonstrate the importance of the role, particularly in a period following the aftermath of the Western Schism and before both the Reformation and Counter Reformation. Previously I studied at Durham University for my MA in Medieval History and Warwick University where I gained a BA in History with a specific focus on the Renaissance.
