Mr George Harrison

B.A., M.A. Solicitor

The Kings School, Canterbury

George is a history teacher with ten years of experience teaching at secondary level, having first had a career as a corporate lawyer in the City. His first teaching post was at The Manchester Grammar School, during which time he completed a Masters in Early Modern English and European History. He is an examiner for the European History paper for the Cambridge Pre-U and prepares sixth form students for Oxbridge entrance. His personal research projects centre on the role of the Privy Chamber in sixteenth century government and the influence of philosophical ideas on politics in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the classroom, his emphasis is on promoting independent thinking and clarity of writing, so that students are encouraged to have their own interpretations and to communicate them efficiently. Beyond the classroom, George enjoys reading, coaching rowing and cooking.
