Theodicy is possibly not a word you have come across before. It means the justifications, or arguments, which are put forward to deal with the problem of the existence of evil in a world where God is all powerful and all loving. So, in this podcast we look at the theodicies of the book of Job, Irenaeus and Augustine; practical responses to suffering; reference to Psalm 119; free will, vale of soul-making, prayer and charity, and a discussion of the success of these approaches.
