In this podcast on social influence we will be looking at variables affecting conformity. This will include the individual variables of culture and age, as well as the situational variables of size of majority influence, degree of unanimity and level of task-difficulty, as identified in Asch’s famous conformity study. We’ll also be discussing conformity to social roles, as seen in Zimbardo’s famous prison simulation study, to assess whether dispositional or situational variables are more influential.
