The Racial state 1936-1939
How far did the attitudes of ordinary Germans towards the Jews change during the period 1936-1939? After the 1936 Olympics Hitler had less reason to pacify the international community and deny the more aggressive elements in his government. The annexing of Austria, the Anschluss, paved the way for more violent treatment of minorities, in particular the Jews. We look at the impact of Anschluss, Kristallnacht, anti-semitism and the further development of racial policies.Tutors:
