"Hawk Roosting" by Ted Hughes, explores power through the metaphor of the hawk. They are excellent flyers and can swoop and pounce very quickly, aided by their incredible eyesight for spotting prey. This makes them very powerful. We analyse "Hawk Roosting", looking at the language Hughes uses to help convey this power, the context it is written in, especially relating to religion and the structure and form.
