Montagues v. Capulets – the brawl in the street! Why does the play begin with conflict? Why is the love story set in the context of a family feud? These are some of the key questions that are considered. There is an exploration of key quotations introducing Romeo, Tybalt and Benvolio to the audience. Why is Romeo introduced in this way? Why is it important that he is introduced as in love with Rosaline at the start of the action? We also analyse Shakespeare’s presentation of love through oxymoron.
