This podcast is an introduction to the anthology, answering key questions, such as where do the poems come from? What do I need to know for the exam? It gives guidance of the assessment objectives (AO's), such as when and where to use light touch and gives you a context/background to the Anthology. Furthermore, it examines different approaches to poetry, especially on how to read and interpret.

PLEASE NOTE:

There is an error in the recording as follows @ approximately 5 min, 20 seconds:

"There’s also the writer’s personal context. Comparing Neutral Tones with Winter Swans, over a hundred years apart, it’s useful to know that Neutral Tones was written after Hardy’s wife’s death and that Owen Sheers wrote Winter Swans as part of a collection called Skirrid Hill."
It should in fact say that Neutral Tones was written long before Hardy's wife's death and not afterwards.
